Dongguan International Container Terminal (the Terminal) is located at Shatian Operation Zone of Human Port, interchange of the south branch of Dongjiang River and the Pearl River, with an area of 180,000 M 2 , coastal length of 236 m, the depth alongside varying from 9 to 14 m. There are four berths available for ships below 15,000 ton to berth at. The Terminal has annual designed handling capacity of 1.2 million tons of bulk cargo, 150,000 TEU containers and 120,000 sedan cars; and total investment is about RMB 200 million.
　　 The Terminal has 80,000 M 2 of yard, including 79000M 2 for foreign trade and 1000M 2 for domestic trade. The yard for domestic trade has been isolated with steel wire net marked with “Yard for Domestic Trade”.
　　 The Terminal has constructed a 2.5 m high permanent fully-closed brick enclosure, one 60 T weighbridge, one 660M 2 semi-closed inspection platform, with the import and export dock passage equipped with inlet & exit two-way inspection and release gate integrated with sentry box and balustrade. The Terminal provides the authorities of customs inspection, quarantine inspection, frontier inspection and maritime, etc. with site offices; provides a piece of 400 M2 quarantine inspection land and a 35 M2 disinfecting chemical and equipment depot exclusively for quarantine inspection; provides a closed circuit TV monitoring system consisting of 16 cameras for inspectors to monitor ships and situation of the harbor operation area; the staircase accessible to ships is equipped with two cameras for frontier officers to monitor the staircase accessible to ships.
　　 Adjacent to the gate to the terminal, there is a 2-storey building with floorage of 224 m2 as international sailors’ passage, of which 112 m2 for the customs and the frontier inspection office respectively. Beside the international sailors’ passage, stands the quarantine inspection room with a floorage of 23 m2. The international sailors’ passage is equipped with various supplementary facilities in compliance with the requirements.
　　 The Terminal has five warehouses with total area of 12,000 m2, including 10000 M 2 for foreign trade and 2000M 2 for domestic trade. There are 2 quay cranes with capacity of 40 tons and 1 fixed crane with capacity of 10 tons located on the bank of the Terminal. The operation area are 4 imported container quay cranes and 12 container forks, bulk cargo forks and special forks.
　　 The Terminal was certified for ISO9001:2000 quality management system in 2001; realized fully computerized management in 2002 and was honorably rewarded as the title of “Unit Honoring Contracts and Keeping Promises” by Dongguan Municipal People’s Government in 2003.
